How We Work

We invest the money we raise into project coordinators with years of experience in building sustainable projects. That way, all projects are community-owned and help where it is truly needed. Our team works closely with local partners to plan the steps of the project carefully and to ensure that every Euro is accounted for. We then always report back to our donors in form of pictures and reports. Learn about our main project in Agona Nsaba, read about past projects and learn about our approach.

AGONA NSABA

At a different life’s annual board meeting in 2019, there was an unanimous decision to create their own a different life Ghana project in Agona Nsaba, Ghana. The project will be managed by board member and chairman Seth who is a local from Agona Nsaba, and the project will be carried out by a local a different life Ghana team.

a different life Ghana is aimed at establishing both formal and informal training and
learning opportunities for children and the youth in Agona Nsaba and its environs.

STAGE 1

Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) Lab

The first project that will be built is an ICT lab for students and the community. The ICT lab will be beneficial for teachers, pupils and students, and people living in the community.

IT skills are important for higher education and for finding a job. The ones who have necessary skills, have better opportunities. That’s why ICT is also part of the curriculum in Ghana. However, schools lack important resources: there is no computer on which students can be trained. And at home, students can also not practice on a devise.

Our ICT centre will be a place:

  • That teachers can use for practical training with their students,
  • where students can come after school to practice with specific software
  • and where IT workshops will be offered to other community members.

STAGE 2

After-School Activities and Library Facility

Following the establishment of the ICT center is the construction of a library facility.

Here, children and other community members can spend time to study or read on current issues pertaining to personal and career development and building a sustainable environment.

Other creative learning and developmental activities will also be made available so that children can enjoy recreational time after school hours.

STAGE 3

Vocational Training Facility for Young Women

The vocational training facility for young women with or without any form of education will be established as third program. The facility will be equipped with tailoring machines and will offer training to young girls.

We hope that through our project, girls who qualify can be set up to start their own business. In the early stages, we will help to connect them to the market to ensure their business‘ sustainability.

The training facility will also have a cycle where people who qualify may be employed to teach new ladies who enroll for training.

STAGE 4

Adolescent and Reproductive Health Centre

The final phase of the project will involve setting up an adolescent and reproductive health centre to offer health education and promotion to the youth in the community and its environs.

We hope to establish a qualified unit, which will offer counseling to both young ladies and young men to ensure they are aware of their sexual health.

The unit will also be involved in annual health outreach projects for community members of all age group.
